Identification and Beyond: Exploring the Many Faces of Forensic Odontology
Six CE credits recommended for dentists, hygienists and dental assistants
Education Methods: lecture, slides, case studies and discussion

This comprehensive lecture provides an in-depth overview of forensic odontology--its vital role in human identification, its expanding scope within medical and legal contexts, and the evolving technology shaping the field. Participants will explore the latest research, innovative software tools, and the use of national databases and international standards that are transforming modern forensic dentistry. The course will highlight other essential areas of practice such as bite mark analysis, dental age estimation, and the forensic odontologist's involvement in civil and criminal investigations. Whether new to the field or an experienced practitioner, participants will come away with a deeper understanding of the art, science and expanding professional responsibilities of forensic odontology.
At the conclusion of the course, participants should be able to:
-- recognize how emerging research, technologies and software are advancing the field and shaping best practices in forensic odontology.
-- gain insight into the processes of bite mark anaylsis and dental age assessment.
-- understand the professional pathways for deeper involvement and certification in forensic dentistry.
