Act 31: This lecture will educate mandated reporters on how to recognize the signs of child abuse and how and when to make a report.
Presented by Michelle Hager, a dedicated Compliance Consultant with Clym Environmental Services specializing in dental practice safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Ms. Hager is employed by Clym Environmental Services and all relevant financial relationships have been mitigated.
Medical Emergencies: Preparation for medical emergencies is extremely important and a team approach ensures that all members of the dental team are prepared to handle emergency situations effectively.
Presented by R. John Brewer, EMT-P, a paramedic with more than 40 years of experience in an urban/suburban area south of Pittsburgh. He has worked extensivley with the dental community as a dental anesthesia assistant in several offices in the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Brewer also provided recertification courses in BLS, ACLS and PALS. He has no relevant financial relationships to disclose.
At the conclusion of the courses, attendees can expect to be able to:
-- Distinguish between mandated and permissive reporters.
-- Recognize child abuse and know how to make a report.
-- Understand the responsibilities of reporters; proctection for reporters and penalties for failure to report suspected child abuse.
-- Discuss the most common medical emergencies, including drug related emergencies.
-- Identify drugs and supplies required for the dental office emergency kit.
-- Review medical history and identify patients at risk for medical emergencies.
-- Systematically approach the management of an in-office emergency.
